Seafood Assistant


Service Foods is seeking a reliable and motivated Seafood Assistant to join our processing team based in Māngere, Auckland.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys physical work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to food safety, quality, and teamwork.

The purpose of this role is to weigh, wrap, seal, label, and pack seafood products, along with assisting in fish cutting, cleaning duties, and moving boxes of seafood as required.

  • Permanent, full-time role
  • Location: Ihumātao Road, Māngere
  • Days of work: Monday to Saturday
  • Shift hours: 04:00 am – 02:00 pm

The Job

Your primary responsibilities will include seafood packing, fish cutting, cleaning, labelling, sealing, and general labouring duties. You will play a key role in preparing, packing, and handling seafood products while ensuring the highest standards of quality, food safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Packing seafood products into bags, trays, and cartons
  • Accurately counting, weighing, and measuring seafood portions
  • Wrapping, sealing, and labelling products using pre-printed labels
  • Monitoring filling levels and seal quality on packing equipment
  • Recording production information such as quantities, weights, dates, and times
  • Assisting with basic fish cutting and seafood preparation
  • Cleaning machinery, equipment, containers, and work areas
  • Moving and transferring boxed seafood safely when required
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements
  • Assisting with general labouring and operational tasks as needed

The Person

We are looking for a dependable, physically fit individual with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to quality and safety. Previous experience in seafood processing, food production, or a similar environment is an advantage but not essential.
