We’re currently seeking a dedicated Butchery Assistant to join our Meat Processing Team in Waikato.

Position Snapshot

  • Location: Simsey Place, Te Rapa Park, Waikato
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, worked between 06:00 AM – 03:00 PM
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

As a Butchery Assistant, you’ll play a key role in processing and packing meat products in compliance with food safety and quality standards. You’ll help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while contributing to a culture of ethics, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, Pack and label meat products with precision and care.
  • Organise and prepare orders for customer delivery.
  • Coordinate timely delivery of butchery products to specification.
  • Validate shelf-life, regulatory limits, and labelling requirements.
  • Operate equipment including vac pack machines for meat wrapping
  • Monitor workflow and inspect product quality & food safety before packaging.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Engage in food safety programs and uphold hygiene standards.

 What We’re Looking For

  • Experience (2-3 years) in food processing, butchery, or the meat industry.
  • Familiarity with food service or meat processing environments.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
  • Physically fit and capable of repetitive heavy lifting
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Adherence to health and safety requirements, and food safety & quality standards
  • Team-oriented with a proactive work ethic.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
