Butchery Assistant | Processing

We’re currently seeking a dedicated Butchery Assistant to join our Meat Processing Team in Waikato.
Position Snapshot
- Location: Simsey Place, Te Rapa Park, Waikato
- Shift: Monday to Friday, worked between 06:00 AM – 03:00 PM
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
As a Butchery Assistant, you’ll play a key role in processing and packing meat products in compliance with food safety and quality standards. You’ll help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while contributing to a culture of ethics, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, Pack and label meat products with precision and care.
- Organise and prepare orders for customer delivery.
- Coordinate timely delivery of butchery products to specification.
- Validate shelf-life, regulatory limits, and labelling requirements.
- Operate equipment including vac pack machines for meat wrapping
- Monitor workflow and inspect product quality & food safety before packaging.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
- Engage in food safety programs and uphold hygiene standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience (2-3 years) in food processing, butchery, or the meat industry.
- Familiarity with food service or meat processing environments.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
- Physically fit and capable of repetitive heavy lifting
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Adherence to health and safety requirements, and food safety & quality standards
- Team-oriented with a proactive work ethic.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
