Business Development Manager


Service Foods Wellington is on the lookout for a dynamic, proactive, and experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our growing sales team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and results-driven individual with a proven track record in business development to contribute to the success of our dynamic and growing organization. You will have a strong understanding of the Wellington market and its dynamics.

 

Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role: The BDM will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities while nurturing existing client relationships. You will play a pivotal role in promoting our diverse range of food products and services, ensuring customer satisfaction and contributing to the overall success of the company. You will play a crucial role in growing our market share in the Wellington region.

This role offers a great blend of business development and account management. Most of your time will be spent prospecting for new business leveraging on your network to target a wide variety of different-sized clients across Poneke. You will identify and pursue new business opportunities in your designated portfolio.

You will be supported by the wider team to succeed and be given the autonomy to use your initiative to develop your own pipeline and build ongoing customer relations. The rest of your time will be spent with your inherited portfolio of warm accounts to manage and grow, ensuring to keep an active call cycle to support high levels of customer satisfaction. You should ensure effective budgetary control over sales expenses, returns and promotional expenses against sales target.

He kōrero mōu | About you: You will be someone with proven experience in a business development or sales role, preferably within the food services industry. A tertiary qualification in business, marketing, sales or related field is beneficial.

As you will be playing a lead role in capturing sales opportunities, your passion for building rapport and long-lasting customer relationships is crucial!

  • You must be a confident communicator
  • You should have relevant trade/hospitality experience.
  • You must have the problem-solving skills employing a solutions-focused approach to partner with our clients and grow with them.
  • Lead generation and business development are key elements of the role so your strong network of contacts will be advantageous.
  • Your good grasp of analytical and product knowledge is essential to deliver exceptional results.
  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Knowledge of food products and the hospitality industry is a significant advantage.
