Service Foods Waikato is now seeking a dedicated Administrator & Butchery Assistant to join our Hamilton Butchery team.

Position snapshot:

  • Location: Simsey Place, Te Rapa, Hamilton
  • Start: Immediate
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full‑Time
  • Roster: Monday to Friday, 06:00 pm – 02:00 am
    (Occasional Sunday shifts may be required for coverage)

About the Role

This is a hands‑on, dual‑function role combining administration, customer service, and butchery operations support. Working night shifts, you will be responsible for accurately picking, packing, weighing, and invoicing customer orders to ensure our customers receive the high standard of service and quality Service Foods is known for.

You will work closely with the Butchery Operations Leader, sales teams, and customers to support smooth overnight operations and on‑time order fulfilment.

Key Responsibilities

Butchery & Pick/Pack

  • Process, pack, weigh, and label meat products with accuracy and care
  • Pick and pack night orders to meet customer specifications
  • Operate vac‑pack and related butchery equipment
  • Validate shelf life, regulatory limits, and labelling requirements
  • Inspect product quality and food safety prior to dispatch
  • Coordinate timely preparation and delivery of orders
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
  • Participate in food safety programs and hygiene standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency

Administration & Customer Support

  • Process customer orders via phone, email, fax, and online platforms
  • Accurately enter orders into Sage/ERP and Salesforce (CRM)
  • Manage invoicing accuracy and weight changes
  • Communicate with Procurement and Customers regarding order fulfilment, backorders, and out‑of‑stock items
  • Respond to customer inquiries professionally and promptly
  • Perform general administrative duties and support special projects as required

About You

You are a resilient, detail‑focused, and customer‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys a mix of administrative and hands‑on operational work.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Year 13 qualification or equivalent
  • Proven experience in administration and/or customer service
  • Professional phone manner with strong relationship‑building skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Strong organisational, time‑management, and decision‑making skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (essential)
  • Experience with Sage/ERP and Salesforce (advantageous)
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food service, food products, or warehouse operations (advantageous)
  • Reliable transport to and from work
